It seems that efficient forensics training should begin in high school. Extra classes in chemistry and biology as well as the participation to workshops and seminars are a fundamental form of education for the development of a forensic career. When you have the basics, college subjects will not be that difficult to understand and learn. There are several possibilities to undergo a form of forensics training. Yet, it is worth mentioning the fact that even a degree in biochemistry, genetics, engineering or physics doesn’t necessarily have to be a opening for a forensic career.

Thus, on the one hand you can follow the lines of forensic training while you are in college, running the programs in parallel with the basics of your education. Besides biology and chemistry, which are a necessity for forensic investigators, legal knowledge is also required. Procedures, methods, techniques and paper work complexly combine in the field of forensics, and you need to be prepared for them in case you want to build a career. Another option for forensics training besides college education, consists of post-graduate programs.

There are certain institutions that organize forensics training programs, and they either work hand in hand with colleges or they follow a special organizational scheme. Thus, for any such post-graduate program, you will need a degree in science, and this is a common rule for all. Moreover, the legal history of an applicant for forensics training has to be completely clear. Some states do not tolerate smoking, while others limit their requirements to applicants that have no record of drug use. The financial retribution is directly related to the kind type of forensics training you follow and the BA or MA degrees you get.

Online forensics training is an alternative to traditional programs, and so far it has received quite a growth in popularity. However, online forensics training could be tricky, and there are issues to consider carefully before joining such a program. First of all, you should find out whether they are certified by the government or by one of the official institutions accredited to organize such courses. Then, the costs of the courses, the final form of examination and the career options you have afterwards are relevant aspects to investigate.

For supporting your forensics training program, you need an equipment to manage your fillling systems that relates to evidence. File cabinet is the perfect solution for your filling systems. For further information about this file cabinet, you can check out the particular website on used filing cabinets where you can get hon filing cabinets and other related information.

CompTIA A+ <a relpost="nofollow" href="http://www.1-2-3computertraining.com/" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.1-2-3computertraining.com%2F','Computer+Training')"target="_self"title="Computer Training " >computer training comprises of 4 specialised sectors – you’ll have to qualify in 2 different areas to be A+ competent. Because of this, many training establishments only offer two of the four in the syllabus. To us, this isn’t enough – yes you’ll have qualified, but knowing about the others will give you a distinct advantage in industry, where you’ll need a more comprehensive understanding. This is why you should train in all 4 specialities.

In addition to learning about the ins and outs of building and maintaining computers, trainees involved in this training will be taught how to work in antistatic conditions, how to fault find, to diagnose and to remotely access problems. Should you decide to add Network+ training, you will additionally be able to assist with or manage networks of computers, giving you the facility to move further up the career path.

Quite often, students have issues with one area of their training which is often not even considered: The method used to ‘segment’ the courseware before being physically delivered to you. Usually, you’ll join a programme requiring 1-3 years study and get sent one module each time you pass an exam. It seems to make sense on one level, but consider these issues: Many students find that their providers usual training route isn’t as suitable as another. Sometimes, varying the order of study will be far more suitable. Could it cause problems if you don’t get everything done in the allotted time?

To be honest, the best option is to have a copy of their prescribed order of study, but make sure you have all of your learning modules right from the beginning. Everything is then in your possession should you not complete it at their required pace.

Only consider learning courses which will move onto industry accepted qualifications. There are far too many trainers promoting their own ‘in-house’ certificates which will prove unusable in today’s commercial market. You’ll find that only recognised certification from companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco and CompTIA will be useful to a future employer.

Consider the following facts in detail if you’re inclined to think the sales ploy of a guarantee for your exam looks like a reason to buy:

You’ll be charged for it by some means. It certainly isn’t free – they’ve simply charged more for the whole training package. We all want to pass first time. Entering examinations one by one and paying as you go makes it far more likely you’ll pass first time – you revise thoroughly and are conscious of what you’ve spent.

Shouldn’t you be looking to hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you take the exam, instead of paying a premium to the college, and to do it locally – rather than in some remote centre? What’s the point in paying early for examinations when there’s absolutely nothing that says you have to? Huge profits are made by companies charging all their exam fees up-front – and banking on the fact that many won’t be taken. It’s also worth noting that many exam guarantees are worthless. Many training companies won’t pay for you to re-take until you can prove to them you’re ready to pass.

Exams taken at local centres are currently clocking in at an average of 112 pounds in Britain at the time of writing. Students should be very wary of forking out hundreds of pounds extra in ‘Exam Guarantee’ costs (most often hidden in the package) – when good quality study materials, the proper support and exam preparation systems and a dose of commitment and effort are what’s required.

Traditional teaching in classrooms, involving piles of reference textbooks, can be pretty hard going sometimes. If this describes you, look for learning programmes that are multimedia based. Years of research and study has repeatedly verified that getting into our studies physically, is far more likely to produce long-lasting memories.

The latest audio-visual interactive programs involving demonstration and virtual lab’s will turn you off book-based study for ever more. And they’re far more fun. Don’t take any chances and look at a small selection of training examples before you purchase a course. You should expect instructor demonstrations, video tutorials and interactive modules with audio-visual elements.

Some companies only have access to training that is purely available online; and although this is okay the majority of the time, imagine the problems if your access to the internet is broken or you only get very a very slow connection sometimes. A safer solution is the provision of DVD or CD discs which removes the issue entirely.

Trainees hopeful to build an Information Technology career usually haven’t a clue what direction is best, or which market to get certified in. Flicking through long lists of different and confusing job titles is a complete waste of time. Surely, most of us don’t even know what the neighbours do for a living – so we have no hope of understanding the subtleties of a particular IT career. The key to answering this quandary correctly comes from an in-depth talk over several different topics:

* Which type of individual you think yourself to be – what tasks do you get enjoyment from, and conversely – what don’t you like doing.

* Do you hope to achieve a specific goal – for example, working for yourself as quickly as possible?

* The income needs you may have?

* Always think in-depth about the work involved to gain all the necessary accreditation.

* What effort, commitment and time you’ll put into the training program.

The best way to avoid the industry jargon, and reveal what’ll really work for you, have a good talk with an industry expert and advisor; a person that will cover the commercial realities and truth whilst covering the certifications.

by Jason Kendall

Without a steady stream of trained computer and network support staff, commerce throughout the country (as elsewhere) would be likely to be drawn to a standstill. There is an ever growing demand for technicians to support both the users themselves and their networks. The world’s need for such qualified and commercially astute individuals is growing at an impressive rate, as industry becomes progressively more dependent upon technology.

‘Exam Guarantees’ are often bundled with training offers – this always means exams have to be paid for upfront, before you’ve even made a start on the course. But before you get taken in by this so-called guarantee, consider this:

You’ll be charged for it ultimately. It’s definitely not free – they’ve simply charged more for the whole training package. We all want to pass first time. Taking your exams progressively one at a time and paying as you go makes it far more likely you’ll pass first time – you take it seriously and are aware of the costs involved.

Don’t pay up-front, but seek out the best deal for you at the time, and avoid college mark-up fees. In addition, it’s then your choice where to do the examinations – meaning you can choose a local testing centre. Why tie up your cash (or borrow more than you need) for examination fees when you don’t need to? Big margins are made by companies charging all their exam fees up-front – and banking on the fact that many won’t be taken. Most companies will require you to sit pre-tests and hold you back from re-takes until you’ve proven conclusively that you can pass – which makes an ‘Exam Guarantee’ frankly useless.

With average prices for VUE and Pro-metric examinations costing in the region of 112 pounds in this country, it’s common sense to fund them one by one. There’s no sense in throwing away maybe a thousand pounds extra at the start of your studies. Commitment, effort and practice with quality exam preparation systems are the factors that really get you through.

The somewhat scary thought of securing your first IT job can be eased by training colleges, through a Job Placement Assistance service. Because of the huge demand for appropriately skilled people in Britain right now, it’s not too important to become overly impressed with this service however. It really won’t be that difficult to find employment as long as you’re correctly trained and certified.

Whatever you do, don’t procrastinate and wait until you have passed your final exams before updating your CV. Right at the beginning of your training, enter details of your study programme and place it on jobsites! You’ll often find that you’ll land your first job whilst still on the course (occasionally right at the beginning). If your CV doesn’t show your latest training profile – or it’s not getting in front of interviewers, then you don’t stand a chance! The best services to help get you placed are most often specialist independent regional recruitment consultancies. Because they only get paid when they place you, they’re perhaps more focused on results.

Just ensure you don’t conscientiously work through your course materials, only to stop and leave it up to everyone else to sort out your employment. Stand up for yourself and make your own enquiries. Put as much focus into landing your new role as you did to get trained.

Authorised simulation materials and exam preparation packages are vital – and absolutely ought to be offered by your course provider. Often students can get thrown by practicing questions for their exams that aren’t recognised by official boards. Quite often, the phraseology can be quite different and it’s vital that you know this. Clearly, it’s very crucial to make sure you’re absolutely ready for your commercial exam prior to going for it. Revising ‘mock’ tests helps build your confidence and saves you time and money on unsuccessful attempts at exams.

Make sure that all your exams are what employers want – forget programs which end up with a useless in-house certificate or plaque. Only fully recognised qualifications from the top companies like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA and Adobe will have any meaning to employers.

Commercial certification is now, undoubtedly, starting to replace the older academic routes into the IT industry – why then is this happening? Industry is now aware that for mastery of skill sets for commercial use, proper accreditation from such organisations as Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA often is more effective in the commercial field – and a fraction of the cost and time. Clearly, a reasonable quantity of associated information has to be learned, but precise specifics in the required areas gives a vendor trained person a distinct advantage.

Put yourself in the employer’s position – and your company needed a person with some very particular skills. What should you do: Pore through reams of different degrees and college qualifications from hopeful applicants, trying to establish what they know and what workplace skills they’ve acquired, or choose a specific set of accreditations that precisely match your needs, and then select who you want to interview from that. Your interviews are then about personal suitability – instead of having to work out if they can do the job.

by Jason Kendall

Congratulations! Hitting upon this feature proves you must be thinking about your future, and if you’re considering retraining you’ve already done more than almost everybody else. Can you believe that hardly any of us consider ourselves fulfilled in our working life – but most will just put up with it. We implore you to liberate yourself and take action – you have the rest of your life to enjoy it.

On the subject of training, it’s important that you have in mind your expectations from the position you’d like to train for. Be sure that you would be more satisfied before you put a lot of energy into changing the direction of your life. So much better to look at the destination you’re hoping for, to avoid disappointment:

* Is working with other people your thing? Perhaps you like being a team player? Maybe you like to deal with tasks that you deal with by yourself?

* What criteria are important to you with regard to the industry you’ll be employed in?

* How long a career do you hope to have once retrained, and will the industry give you the confidence that will happen?

* Do you have niggles about the chance of getting new work, and being gainfully employed all the way until retirement?

A predominant industry in this country to tick all of the above boxes is the IT sector. There is a requirement for greater numbers of knowledgeable workers in IT, – take a look at any jobsite and there’ll be a long list. Don’t misunderstand and think it’s all techie people gazing towards theirscreens all day – there are loads more jobs than that. The majority of employees in IT are ordinary people, and they have very interesting and well paid jobs.

You have to be sure that all your qualifications are what employers want – don’t even consider programs which lead to some in-house certificate (which is as useless as if you’d printed it yourself). From an employer’s perspective, only the major heavyweights such as Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco or CompTIA (for example) really carry any commercial clout. Anything less just doesn’t cut the mustard.

The classroom style of learning we remember from school, involving piles of reference textbooks, is usually pretty hard going. If you’re nodding as you read this, look for learning programmes that are multimedia based. Where possible, if we can study while utilising as many senses as possible, then the results are usually dramatically better.

Learning is now available on CD and DVD discs, so everything is learned directly from your own PC. Video streaming means you are able to see your instructors showing you how it’s all done, with some practice time to follow – with interactive lab sessions. It’s very important to see some example materials from each company you’re contemplating. It’s essential they incorporate video demo’s and interactive elements such as practice lab’s.

Purely on-line training should be avoided. You want physical CD/DVD ROM course materials where offered, so you can use them wherever and whenever you want – it’s not wise to be held hostage to a good broadband connection all the time.

Several companies supply a practical Job Placement Assistance program, to help you into your first commercial role. Because of the great skills shortage in the United Kingdom today, it’s not necessary to make too much of this option though. It really won’t be that difficult to get your first job once you’re properly qualified.

Help with your CV and interview techniques is sometimes offered (if not, see one of our sites for help). Be sure to you work on your old CV immediately – don’t wait until you’ve finished your exams! Quite frequently, you’ll land your initial role whilst you’re still studying (sometimes when you’ve only just got going). If your course details aren’t on your CV (and it’s not being looked at by employers) then you aren’t even in the running! The most efficient companies to help you land that job are normally specialist locally based employment services. Because they only get paid when they place you, they have more incentive to get on with it.

Certainly make sure you don’t spend hundreds of hours on your training and studies, just to give up and leave it up to everyone else to sort out your employment. Stand up for yourself and start looking for yourself. Channel as much energy and enthusiasm into securing a good job as you did to gain the skills.

There is a tidal wave of change flooding technology in the near future – and it becomes more and more thrilling each day. Society largely thinks that the increase in technology we’ve been going through is cooling down. There is no truth in this at all. We have yet to experience incredible advances, and most especially the internet will be the most effective tool in our lives.

Wages in the IT sector aren’t to be ignored either – the average salary in the United Kingdom for the usual person working in IT is significantly higher than in the rest of the economy. It’s a good bet you’ll bring in a whole lot more than you could reasonably hope to get in other industries. Experts agree that there’s a substantial national demand for qualified IT professionals. In addition, with the constant growth in the marketplace, it appears this will be the case for years to come.

A lot of training companies will only offer support available from 9-6 (office hours) and sometimes later on specific days; most won’t answer after 8-9pm at the latest and frequently never at the weekends. Avoid, like the plague, any organisations who use call-centres ‘out-of-hours’ – with the call-back coming in during office hours. It’s not a lot of help when you’ve got study issues and need an answer now.

World-class organisations utilise an online round-the-clock facility combining multiple support operations throughout multiple time-zones. You will have an easy to use environment that seamlessly selects the best facility available no matter what time of day it is: Support when it’s needed. If you accept anything less than support round-the-clock, you’ll regret it. It may be that you don’t use it late in the night, but you’re bound to use weekends, late evenings or early mornings.

by Jason Kendall

SEO is essentially a constantly evolving study of what factors the search engines take into account when they ‘rank’ you in their natural search listings.

When we search for anything, up come the natural search lists. These do not include the paid listings. Generally, the paid advertising is on the right of the screen. A box at the top of the page will also contain paid ads. All the others are ‘naturally’ listed from the Search Engine’s index. Search Engines use algorithms to determine a website’s relevancy and importance. This is how they decide on which order to place them in.

Of course, we would like to be as high as possible on page one. No-one’s going to find us if we’re listed on page seven. We can’t know for sure about all the criteria Google and the like use to rank us. It’s not in the SE’s interest to tell people everything they do.

But there is now a skilled sector entirely devoted to benefiting from high rankings. On the one side you have SE’s like Google deliberately filing technology patents in many different areas. Causing much mystification about their methods! On the other hand, there’s Search Engine Optimisation. This uses empirical testing and measuring of various factors to determine which ones are the most important.

The objective is to maximise both ‘on-page’ and ‘off-page’ optimisation. Off-web criteria also play a part in SE listings, (e.g. demographics). This doesn’t come under the remit of SEO though. For a full discussion of Off-Page factors, please refer to our other article on this subject.

‘On-Page’ SEO

If we can make changes to our site to make it more friendly to Search Engines, this is called ‘on-page’ optimisation. It’s not too complex – it just requires setting up your web site correctly. For example: The correct use and density of keywords and internal linking; H1 and H2 header tags and meta tags.

It doesn’t matter if all that sounds very confusing.

It’s very easy to control on-page factors. But to be quite honest, they have the least relevance to your ranking these days. To be blunt, some would say it hardly has any effect at all. It used to be possible to ‘trick’ the Search Engines with on-page factors several years ago. That hasn’t been possible for a long time though.

If, however, off-page has been optimised, (and there are many inbound back-links), then on-page continues to be important. If that’s the case, internal linking and a certain amount of on-page fine-tuning can reap rewards.

Things To Consider…

Do not START to SEO with phrases that yield millions of results. In a search for ‘Car Insurance’ on Google in the UK for example, you would find around 70 million results. Anyone can see it’s not wise to try and compete with 70 million other pages when you’re just starting out!

On the other hand… A much smaller list (300k) comes up when I enter ‘Southampton car insurance’. (Assuming I was a car insurance provider in Southampton.) So a much more realistic target.

I would have a far better chance of getting ranked for that phrase quickly than I would for just ‘car insurance’. In actual fact, it takes very deep pockets to get a premier listing for a term like ‘car insurance’. My competition would be the huge corporations. So not a great idea – especially, in fact, when there are much better ways to go about it.

In fact, what we really need are terms that more specifically reflect our product or service. In the industry, we call these ‘long-tail’ searches – as they contain multiple keywords. Depending on how competitive your market is, the phrases could be from 2 to 7 words long. Typically they will be 3 or 4 words long.

In general, our recommendation is to begin SEO’ing with keyword phrases that reveal fewer than 500,000 results. (If the sites on the front page haven’t used SEO techniques, then we might go with bigger yields). Over time we’ll gain ground on the larger search terms. This will happen automatically through building back links. If we put in enough effort, we can go after those big phrases in 3-12 months time. This strategy is also far more targeted at the start. We go for the phrases that people who are looking to buy are using.

Don’t just limit building back links to your website’s home page – link them up to various sub pages as well. Google and the other Search Engines like this ‘deep linking’. Try back-linking product group pages. They often have links to several other sub-pages about individual products. So don’t limit the back links to one page. Google and the other SE’s are looking more and more at how individual pages on your site are listed and treated.
